Absolutely fantastic! My family and I went to Frank's for dinner tonight and it was wonderful. The outside area is much larger than you would expect, there are lots of plants around that provide some privacy so you don't feel like you're in a room full of strangers. Our waiter was amazing, I believe his name was Steven. He had a great understanding of every dish and could answer any question we had. He was very friendly and is definitely a huge part of why I'm giving Frank's 5 stars. He was attentive, helpful, friendly, everything you could hope for during your dining experience. We started with the friend oysters, everyone liked them. I had the "Duck two ways" and it was delicious. I ordered medium-rare, but it was a little closer to the rare side than medium-rare. It was still delicious! My mom had the Jumbo sea scallops, they were cooked perfectly, had fantastic flavor and texture. My aunt got the 6oz filet in a bacon blue cheese sauce which was to die for! I am not a blue cheese fan, but this was incredible! Highly recommend. My grandfather had the salmon, also delicious. It was perfectly cooked, not too dry which seems to be the case at most places. We finished off our evening with their 12-layer caramel cake, something none of us would ever think to order. Normally if something says caramel it ends up being way over sweet and slightly nauseating, but this was spectacular. Even though it was sweet, something in the flavors was so well-balanced and perfectly done that it doesn't seem nearly as sweet as you would expect. Highly recommend ordering that even if it doesn't sound like something you would ever eat, it's really just that good! Overall, we had a wonderful experience here. I will definitely return here the next time I'm down in Pawley's!

Frank's is a fine dining resturant, one of my top 3 favorites in Pawelys Island. It's along the caliber of Bistro 217 and the Chive Blossom. The inside is very cozy with a warm fire place and lovely dark wood bar. This area is a perfect sitting area for coffee after dinner or cocktails before dinner. The dining room is formal, donned with dim lighting and a relaxing feel Frank's inside is luxury to the extreme. On their menu you will always find an array of fish, beef and chicken dishes. There is something for everyone on this menu, ever a petit filet with green beans and mashed potatoes for the young ones. They have a HUGE burger on their Chop House menu, also new. My favorites: The Lobster Risotto and the Spinach with Goat Cheese Balls Salad, seriously, they are out of this world! And of course, I can never pass up a perfectly cooked piece of beef, so I am a fan of the children's menu Petit Filet. Perfect portion for me, maybe not for a 6 foot tree sized man with an appetite of an elephant. You get my drift, there are larger portions on the chop house menu, and also plates to share as a couple. A hint: Ask your waiter, waitress or bartender (may I recommend Chris Henson, and Trip Cox) about the history of Frank's the restaurant. You will be delightfully surprised about this establishments history, and how family oriented this restaurant really is!

I was in Pawley's Island for work and needed takeout. Thankfully Frank's accommodated me since they seem to be the only (best) place to eat in the area. The She Crab soup was very rich and creamy. I also had a beet salad which was very good. While not the best dining experience (eating out of styrofoam and trying to work in my hotel) the food was good.

Stopped in the bar for our first time this week on the way home for dessert and a nightcap. My wife ended up getting a nice small plate. Good wine selection and I had one of two ports they have on the menu. Dessert was very good, excellent service, really enjoyed the vibe - the bar is right up front of the restaurant - but easy feel to it. We looked at the menu for both restaurants and plan on going back this weekend.

Frank's has been my favorite restaurant for over 20 years. I've seen the menus evolve over time, keeping up with popular trends, yet keeping the local's favorites. Frank's is the benchmark, to which I compare all other restaurants. It's our "special occasion" place.... and we never have trouble coming up with a special occasion! Last night I dined there with some friends and had a delightful evening. The food was great, the service was friendly, efficient and fun. The bartenders even named a drink after me! Ask for the Kaztini next time you're outback, but only if you're abstaining (it's better than ordering a club soda, with a splash of cranberry, in a pretty wine glass, with a twist of lime....and faster too!)

Local Favorite. family owned adn operated. Excellent quality. Must call ahead and make reservation. Fresh Seafood, good Steaks and Lamb. Demand is high and service caters to repeat visitors so service can get backed up but worth the wait. One of the best Restaurants in area. Worth the drive down from Myrtle Beach.

My husband and I ate at Frank's while on vacation. We made a reservation and we found out there are two areas to eat in the restaurant. The regular Frank's inside and the Outback which was the outdoor restaurant. We ate at the inside Frank's. We made a reservation which I definitely would recommend especially if you're having a big party or eating dinner on the weekend. We went on a wednesday night at 630 and the place was packed. First off out waiter was amazing! Louis was so friendly and familiar with the menu. Knew all the specials without looking at his paper. He recommended some great options. He was not pushy or rushed us which is nice. The menu is amazing, it has a ample variety of food from red meat to fish to pasta. We ordered an appetizer that was on the specials, it was lobster hush puppies and they were amazing. My husband ordered two small plates for his entree and I ordered the scallops from the regular menu and they were to die for. It was very hard to order as everything sounded so good. The wine list was also very nice. We enjoyed a nice bottle of cab from a small Napa winery and it was great. Dessert was also very good! I had the creme brûlée and my husband the cookie pie. All the tables around us seemed to be enjoying their meals too. I would say the outback area would have been nice too but the weather was so hot I did't feel like sweating and eating a really nice meal. This place is not cheap but it was well worth it.

Fantastic dinner experience! My wife and I went for our anniversary and we had a great time! We had the tuna nachos appetizer and they were very good but small, only 4 nacho chips. I had the mahi mahi special and it was served on grits, and the grits were amazing. My wife got the small plate leg of lamb and it was cooked perfectly, and the meat was very tender. Then we ended with the cookie pie dessert and it had a strawberry sauce and homemade whipped cream on it which were awesome! Quick shout out to out waiter J.R. For making the night very enjoyable and fun! He is reason I am giving it 5 stars instead of 4!

Really not impressed with the food or the service... The setting was nice but that was about it. A friend of mine told me about this place and I'm convinced he is not my friend for suggesting I waste my time and money here.

Fantastic Food...... but the most rude but mature staff I have ever encountered starting from the host/hostess who never acknowledged me nor made eye contact as I was checking in a party of 6 ...to the extremely snotty bartender to the indifferent waiter. We vacation at Debordieu every year for the past 8 years with a large family and go several times a summer to Franks... But no more! The food is wonderful and creative ( love the small plates options) but a menu is not all there is to make a stellar restaurant! Such a shame!

Wonderful meal in a beautiful setting. I had the chicken and my wife had the crab cakes. Both were wonderful. The server, Michelle, was attentive and nice. We will be back next year when we visit again.

Just had one of the best meals in years at this restaurant. Started off with some great appetizers: deep fried deviled eggs and cheddar and country ham biscuits with red pepper jelly. Both were excellent but if I go back, I would definitely get the deviled eggs. However I ordered the corn and crab hush puppies (which is an appetizer) with my entree. They were amazing! They were more like mini crab cakes. Excellent. I ordered a "small plate" - a 4 oz filet with a risotto cake and a red wine mushroom sauce. It was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and was the perfect size. Not too big so we could save room for dessert. My friends had the salmon entree and the fried green tomatoes with shrimp and andouille sausage. They too agreed that their meals were amazing. Judging from their empty plates, I have to assume they were. Dessert was a given when we heard they had a 14 layer caramel cake. Needless to say, it did not disappoint! This cake was served warm with caramel sauce drizzled over the top and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All three of us ordered it because we didn't want to share. But it's a huge dessert and could easily feed 2 or 3 people. Service was impeccable and the restaurant had a nice friendly (and distinctly Southern) atmosphere. Everybody seemed to know every one else. Makes me want to move to Pawley's Island. If you are in the area and have not yet gone to this restaurant you are missing out!

Treated friends and business associates of ours. Part of 4 on a very very busy evening. Spent over $207 for the party (before tip) and was less than overwhelmed. Service was very good and provided by Laurie but the food (at least my entree) was a luke warm review. The winning treat was the Tuna Appetizer which was the best. Wine by the glass was a little too over the top expensive. My Pinot Noir tasted only 1/2 of what it was worth. Prior experiences here were far better. Maybe it was the volume of the evening. Maybe there was some bad JuJu in the kitchen, not really sure. BUT when I fork out that much $$$ I expect much better.

Place is perfect. Great outdoor space, fun and inviting and if it's hot outside, they have indoor restaurant. This place should get 6 stars. Food is amazing and the staff is great.

Frank's is a awesome spot. Recommended by a very nice gentleman at the Tradition's pro shop (sorry I cannot remember his name). Our original reservations were for Franks Outback, but it was too hot to sit outside. Maybe I can try it again on my next visit. The fried calamari appetizer was excellent. Not too salty or greasy. The bread was hot and fresh. My pan roasted Scottish salmon with jasmine rice, honey glaze, and spicy tomato salsa was awesome. The 14 layer caramel cake with vanilla ice cream is delicious. If you are ever in the area, reserve a table. The food and service is worth it.

  • Chris B.

Crazy good, the place is huge! The indoor section is nice, the outdoor sections looks unreal. Quality vs. Cost is in the favor of the patrons. The Duck is fantastic, soups were good, the tuna nachos are OMG good! A rather unusual item exists on the menu, Fried deviled eggs, it's a must try. the fried shrimp and the pizza were both excellent. The kids French frys were also as good as they get. This was by far the best meal we had in the area!

Best restaurant in SC! I've never had anything I didn't love! The only negative thing I can say is the hostess lady is super snooty..not sure if she's the owner or what. She seats different tables with different levels of enthusiasm. My friend and I are both 30 year old professionals, but look very young. She gives us the "What are YOU doing in here" stink eye and an indifferent "thank you" when we leave. If you have a look of stature you get a grandiose greeting and farewell. Good thing the food and atmosphere is fabulous!

I'm a local and my family comes down several times a year to their condos. We're are always in favor of Frank's. Make a reservation. The ambiance, service, food, quality, music (Especially Thursday nights) is incredible. Enjoy your visit. It was my visits that prompted me to move here and my Frank's my go to place.

I was very impressed with my entree. We ate in the front by the bar, both of our steaks were beyond fantastic. Cooked to perfect temperature and very tender. No sauce needed here. If you're in the mood for a steak, stop by. The appetizers were pretty solid too but the entree is where it's at.

Having visited many times in my travels, I always find Franks to be an excellent dining experience. From a casual drink at the bar to an evening in the dining room or the ambiance out back, I am always meeted and greeted with a warm welcome and provided an excellent meal with exemplary service. Even from Myrtle beach, it is worth the drive down to Pawleys Island for your dinner. I would and have recommended Franks to anyone visiting the coast. Truly a 5 star meal.

  • Irene R.

Food was good but not very good. We won't be back. There is a $25 corkage fee. I had 1 glass of wine due to the corkage charge. A $25 corkage fee is outrageous. If you substitute chocolate or other flavor of ice cream on a desert such as the cookie desert they charge you an additional $2.50. Our waitress was delightful and attentive but additional charges in the restaurant make you feel you are not a valued customer.

Loved the look of the outside and interior. Very cozy. But unfortunately we were seated at the worst table in the place. On a date with my husband and were seated in a very sunny corner around 2 large families with babies. Although the babies we very well behaved we were looking for a more romantic atmosphere. I might add we had reservations and arrived early. I got the filet and my husband got the quail. With both the meat was very good but the sides fell flat. My husbands was cheese grits and collards. They were fine but not anything we couldn't make better at home. My potatoes tasted like boxed mashed potatoes. I'm sure they were not, I think the problem was they were whipped with no cream or butter and they were bland and watery. The waiter was fine but we felt like a bother. For the price of this place I don't think we will be back.

I ordered two small plates and a soup. The asian spring rolls were great and a real bargain at $5. The crab salad plate was good but not great for $14, there was not enough crab and the dressing was boring---made me wish I had ordered two orders of the spring rolls. The She Crab soup was excellent. My wife ordered the soup and grouper and liked them both. We were there with a group of 8 and everyone was pretty happy with what they got, but the most delighted person was the one who got the grilled scallops---she wouldn't even share them. We shared a 14 layer cake for dessert that was very good. Everyone agreed that the food was great , but was a little bit overpriced. But still we'll all go back next year The service by Karen was perfect.

  • Ed D.

Disappointing. We have eaten at Frank's many times in the past enjoying great meals. Our experience on July 17 was very disappointing. On the positive side the Low Country Spring Roll was inventive and tasting. The crab cakes were nice too. All other dishes suffered from excessive salt or poor prep/quality. The ravioli was swimming in oil, the collards inedible for the salt, the conch tough, salty and overlooked. I can understand one failed dish but three make it unlikely we will try again.

Franks is hands down the best restaurant in Pawleys. The atmosphere is top-notch, food is incredible, and the service is excellent! If you want a phenomenal experience that is well worth the price then this is the place! Highly recommend the filet mignon and brownies and ice cream for dessert! Already can't wait to return next summer!

What a great night. The service was spot on and the food was great. Well worth the price. We left VERY full. The She Crab soup was great, the Conch was fabulous! The fried deviled eggs are a must try. Very unique and tasty. The scallops...oh so good! They were nice size and probably the best I have ever had. The Key Lime pie had a Oreo Cookie crust. I didn't care for that (I prefer the graham cracker crust), but just my opinion. Great atmosphere, we were seated by the fireplace. Great choice if your looking for an upscale night out.

  • Nancy A.

What a wonderful meal Starting with the She Crab soup my meal was a 10 my crabcakes were made of BIG lumps of backfin I can not figure out how they stayed together and the Grits and Collards were better than my own homemade..and I even GROW my own collards. BUT the best part of the meal was the Caramel Cake AMAZING !!!!! So very glad we drove down from MB for dinner here instead of one of the chains up in the Crowds!

For many reasons, this is our favorite restaurant on the Grand Strand. Being that Myrtle Beach, SC, is a second home to us, we have been to hundreds of restaurants over the years. We don't often get as far south as Pawley's Island, but when we can, we take a ride to Frank's and/or Frank's Outback (seasonal). We recently dined in the small grill area at Frank's Restaurant (the Outback was not open), and we THOROUGHLY enjoyed everything. The food is ALWAYS excellent, and this time did not disappoint. However, we especially enjoyed the "show" at the grill! Those guys work so well together, in a very tight area. Everything is made to order, and you can tell the chefs are VERY well trained and accustomed to a fast moving kitchen and quite demanding clientele. Service by Ray was just perfect:) We especially enjoyed the very friendly grill chef, Mike, who took the time to get to know us after his shift. This was special to us. And, along with the entire grill staff (remember we had front row seats), Mike was extra fun to watch. We sat in amazement as he moved from order to order....and without skipping a beat:) The Gold Coin margaritas were excellent, though quite pricey. Worth it for one, at least:) Overall, while the food is quite high end. The prices, however, are really in line with most of the restaurants along the Grand Strand. To summarize, the food is worth the price- DEFINITELY. I especially loved the mushroom appetizer. I am vegan, so it was perfect for me. I was thrilled that the staff could accommodate my diet, as well (tweak oil for butter, be sure to add no dairy, that sort of thing). As it seems to be always crowded (and quite fancy so dress accordingly if you are to sit in the Main Dining area), I recommend reservations.

In my many travels to Pawleys Island for work, I finally got a chance to check out Frank's for dinner. I am so very glad that I tried this place out. I called ahead for a table but I was able to get right in. The dining room is quite formal - but the service is very attentive with a little casual flair. I started off with a cup of the She-Crab soup. Probably my favorite version of this soup that I have had yet! After debating between quite a few small plates and specials for dinner - I finally ended up with the veal piccata simply because I hardly see this item on restaurant menus anymore. This was a great choice with the veal and pasta cooked perfectly and the entree was just the right size for my appetite and it came with a great salad. I will have to come back to try the mahi mahi small plate - the other thing I was thinking of ordering! I was so stuffed that I didn't have any room for any of the delicious sounding desserts. Between Bistro 217 and Frank's, I'm glad I have some go-to spots when I'm fortunate enough to be in town for work!

Came here for my father-in-laws birthday and we had the best service and food in Pawleys. All four of us ordered something different and it was amazing! The price is definitely worth it so you should come here on special occasions!

  • Monika M.

Always enjoyable and delicious for a special occasion dinner. Shrimp and Andouille sausage in a Tasso cream sauce over fried green tomatoes was a generous portion appetizer to share. The Calamari, although hot and crispy, lacked a bit of flavor. Loved my small plate option of Mahi over mushroom asparagus risotto and shaved Parmesan. My husband always has the grouper and shrimp over stone ground grits. Rachel, our waitress, was very polished, polite and professional. You will never be disappointed if you are looking for an extraordinary evening of culinary delights!

  • Kathy G.

Solid dining experience. I had a tremendous duck entrée that would rate 5 stars. The she crab soup was good, not the best but good. My dinner mates had a scallop with risotto meal they really did like, but said it was a bit rich and heavy.

My family had been hoping to try out Frank's for some time, it is an area institution after all. Maybe our expectations were too high, maybe they were having an off night, or we ordered the wrong things. Either way we were disappointed. We had a reservation, and were seated as soon as we arrived. They brought us the regular Frank's menu and the Chophouse menu, and we requested a copy of the Frank's Outback menu. ( You can order off any of the menus.) Our drink orders were taken quickly and we were left with a basket of rolls- which I was disappointed in. They were those white, pre made french dinner rolls that lack flavor and creativity. There are several great local bakeries that I'm sure would be happy to supply Frank's with something better. As someone with food allergies, I had several questions for our waiter about some of the entrees. He was knowledgeable enough to answer all my questions, and empowered to offer to make me something off menu if needed. The salads that came with our meal were fine, nothing to get excited about, though certainly a step up from the iceberg lettuce you get at some places. For appetizers we had the Fried Conch special, Calamari, Shrimp and Beef sate. Nothing was bad- but no one was overly impressed. Entrees Citrus brined Pork Chop- My husband liked it, though I thought for something that had been brined, it lacked the flavor I thought it would have. The apple raisin compote it came with was very good. It also came with Sweet Potato hash, which I did not try, but it did not look like hash to me. I decided to play it safe and go with a filet from the Chophouse menu, while my sister went with the filet from the regular Frank's menu. Mine certainly looked better- though neither of us were raving about them. The filet from the Chophouse menu was Prime, but I'm thinking that the one from the regular menu was not- as it cost less. There was no salt or pepper on my steak, and quite honestly it did not have a lot of flavor. I Did have the Parmesan truffle fries as a side, and they were exceptional! My Mom had the Grouper- this is something that Frank's is known for. She asked for the Dijon sauce on the side- and they failed to do so. She thought the fish was very good, but did not like the sauce and it kind of ruined it for her. My dad went with the Burger from the Frank's Outback menu and was quite disappointed. The menu conjures an image of a great big juicy burger- and what was on his plate did not look or taste as good as he had hoped. For dessert, we had the caramel cake, brownie, key lime pie and the blackberry cobbler. They buy the caramel cake from a local cake lady- and though I don't love caramel frosting- the layers of the cake themselves were the most delicate and tender I think I have ever had. The brownie was served with vanilla ice cream, and it was very rich. They make the brownies in house. The key lime pie was very good, tart and creamy. The blackberry cobbler was fine- we misunderstood the waiter, and were thinking it was going to be blueberry cobbler. So overall, we had good service, but found the acoustics of the restaurant to be bad. It was hard to hear everything. The food was okay- but we all left a bit disappointed.

I've been going to Frank's for years. The food is consistently good and the service excellent. Some favorites include the grouper, the duck, and the scallops. The specials are often interesting and make use of fresh ingredients. On my last visit, I had the blackberry cobbler for dessert, which was really good. I have only two issues with Frank's. The menu doesn't change much. I'd love to see some new additions. And the potions are quite large. That said, they have added a small plates menu, which both adds new items and are smaller portions. They've also added a chop house menu, essentially offering excellent cuts of meat. While both these seem like good additions, they also make the menu a bit overwhelming. And nothing on the small plates menu looked as interesting as the regular menu. Still, I look forward to my next visit, and will try to try something new.

Have dined here many times over the years, and before now the food was excellent. This week was NOT up to par. Two items were too salty to eat. Service spotty. I hope this does not become a trend. Crab cakes were fine.

Yelp was right again! We were looking for upscale dining and this was perfect. Great food and great service. I wanted some saute spinach with butter and garlic to go with my ginger Scottish salmon and Lewis said no problem we will prepare that for you --- delicious! Ask for Lewis. Desert --- 14 layer warm caramel cake was perfect!

We have been going to Franks for years. Had the lamb, the duck, the veal, the scallops, and steaks. One word...excellent. Missed coming to the area last year, but can't wait to go this year. The 14 layer caramel cake is unbelievable. Put quite simply, if you don't leave this place with an anxious feeling to get back as soon as you can, get back on your space ship, and return to what ever planet you came from.

I love Frank's. We have a place in Garden City and traveling a mere 20 minutes to this culinary paradise is the best 20 minutes ever driven. The food is always fantastic, the wait staff is extremely knowledgeable, the ambiance top notch, the wine list is well appointed, and the overall experience is tremendous. This restaurant is easily in my top 10 favorite restaurants to frequent. A must if you love good food, good wine, and a great atmosphere.

The first 5 star I have given here on yelp. The service is insanely good, like RIDICULOUSLY good. I am from the area, but live in DC now. I know a meal of this calibur would be an arm and a leg up here. The ladyfriend and I went here for her birthday. I got the duck, it was one of the best tasting meals I have ever eaten. It was amazing. I think about that meal now when I get hungrey. She got the tuna, it was very good as well. We finished off with a derby pie, pretty decent. I did however go back again a few weeks later when I was back in town. I was not feeling the best, and I think that reflected in my tasting. I didn't enjoy it as much this time (I got the chicken and red rice). But the service was still amazing.

No question this is the best dinner restaurant in Pawleys area. Superb food--excellent service. Consistently impressive. We dine at Frank's for the "special" occasions--and even those not so.

Frank's is consistently the best restaurant in the Murrell's Inlet to Georgetown section of the South Carolina beach area. All of the low country standards are here including fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, shrimp and grits and fresh local fish. In addition there is usually something innovative to keep you coming back. I especially enjoyed a conch and salsa appetizer. The service is always excellent. Call ahead for reservations at least a week in advance if you have a large party.

I don't bother writing reviews for restaurants under 4 stars.....Frank's is, without a doubt, the most consistently wonderful restaurant in the PI area. The service is just unbelievable: attentive, helpful, and not "at your elbow every minute". The smaller plates are fascinating concoctions. The dinners are always delicious. We've had most of the fish dishes on the menu. I think also pork and maybe lamb?. ..all wonderfully prepared. The wine selection is outstanding. Desserts, bar beverages........all exceed expectations. Growing up my son thought this was the greatest restaurant in the world! So, make a reservation WELL in ADVANCE ( if we know, we make one a month ahead) and go. Prices are reflective of the experience. We've never regretted a dime spent here.
